He violated his wife's “most intimate sphere of life.” The German court issued a verdict

According to Reuters, the court found that the crimes took place in the years 2018–2024, although the prosecutor's office accused the defendant that his actions could have lasted up to nearly 15 years. During the proceedings, recordings documenting 34 situations in which sexual violence occurred were analyzed. In four cases, these acts were of an exceptionally brutal nature. The court emphasized that the defendant had grossly violated “the most intimate sphere of private life and personal rights” of his wife.

The investigators' findings show that Fernando P. secretly gave his wife sedatives or narcotics and then raped her in their shared home. Moreover, he filmed these crimes and distributed the videos on group chats and online platforms, making them available to other users.

“In the years 2018-2024, the accused repeatedly gave his wife sedatives and then committed sexual violence against her. He is also accused of posting recordings of these acts on chat rooms and online platforms, thus making them available to other users” — said the spokesman of the court in Aachen, quoted by Reuters.

The man was sentenced, among others, for rape with particular cruelty, bodily harm and serious violation of the victim's privacy. At the same time, the court acquitted him of some of the charges, but their details were not disclosed. Much of the trial took place behind closed doors to protect the victim's privacy.

The defendant's court-appointed attorney declined to comment after the verdict was announced. In turn, the lawyer representing the victim emphasized that the court showed “extraordinary sensitivity” and his client had “a voice in this process.”

The German media compared the case of Fernando P. to the famous trial of Dominique Pelicot from France, who last year was sentenced to 20 years in prison for many years of sexual violence against his wife.
