US President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to act “quickly” on the draft agreement to end the war launched by Russia in February 2022, according to AFP and Reuters, in the context of talks to be held in Miami this week.

The American publication Axios had reported, based on sources, that representatives of Ukraine and Russia will travel to Miami this week for separate meetings with American officials.

“Well, they're getting close to something, but I hope Ukraine will act quickly. I hope Ukraine will act quickly, because Russia is there,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, in what Reuters described as an apparent reference to recent Russian advances on the battlefield.

“And you know, every time they take too much time, Russia changes its mind,” the US leader added.

New talks, in Miami

Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy Kirill Dimitriev is expected to visit Miami this weekend for talks with White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, Axios wrote Wednesday, citing a White House official and a source familiar with the situation.

In Miami, also this week, Witkoff and Kusher are also scheduled to talk with a delegation led by Ukrainian presidential national security adviser Rustem Umerov.

There are currently no plans for a trilateral meeting between representatives of the United States, Russia and Ukraine, Axios' sources said.

The Kremlin announced on Thursday that Russia is preparing contacts with the United States to find out what changes have been made to the US draft peace plan after Washington's consultations with Ukraine and European governments, according to Russian state news agency TASS.

“Indeed, we are working on establishing certain contacts with our American counterparts to gather information about the results of their work with the Europeans and Ukrainians,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
