Feyenoord suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions, a streak that FCSB started a week ago, when the reigning Superliga champions won 4-3 at the National Arena.

Robin van Persie's job is in shambles after Feyenoord were knocked out of the Dutch Cup by his former team Heerenveen 2-3. Supporters rioted at the end of the home game and called for the legendary Arsenal and Manchester United striker to resign.

But a surprise 3-4 defeat at FCSB in the Europa League followed after Robin van Persie's side led 3-1. Just 3 days later, Feyenoord also lost the derby with Ajax at the “Johan Cruyff Arena”, score 0-2, and on December 17, Feyenoord lost the match against Heerenveen at home, score 2-3, and was eliminated from the Dutch Cup.

The visitors took the lead after Dylan Vente opened the scoring in the 25th minute and Feyenoord restored parity in the 64th minute through Luciano Valente. Maxence Rivera made it 2-1 for Heerenveen in the 77th minute and van Persie's side restored parity in the 83rd minute after Maas Wilemsen's own goal. Feyenoord then went on the attack, but Heerenveen also scored the penalty in the 90th minute after Jacob Trenskow's goal.

At the end of the match, Feyenoord's supporters ran out of patience and demanded Robin van Persie's resignation in chorus.

They're not happy, and that's my fault and ours. We need to change that. When you see disappointed supporters, I think it's good to listen. I always look combative. I am now and always will be. I will continue to do this for the club and the supporters. I know what it means because I am one of them.
