The head of the regional traffic police, Sergei Molyavko, said that from next week, taking into account the forecast of an increase in traffic flows on federal and regional roads More DPS outfits will be released. Particular attention will be paid to the prevention of accidents in oncoming traffic lanes, the safety of pedestrians and the organized transportation of children. In remote areas of the region, additional control will also be established over drunk driving and operation of unregistered vehicles.

In cooperation with dispatch services, as well as using the “truckers’ radio broadcast,” the road and weather situation on the highways will be assessed. If necessary, restrictions will be introduced in areas with difficult conditions. Inspections of the road network are also planned for the serviceability of traffic lights, signs, lighting and fencing.

“Posts and patrol routes of traffic police units have been adjusted taking into account the work of Christmas tree and ice towns. In general, it is planned to use 153 officers and 66 patrol cars during the events,” the traffic police reported.

The Yenisei Highway Department reported that on federal highways Rapid response teams are being created, reinforced with special equipment from contracting road organizations. When the air temperature is below −25 °C, specialized vehicles with heat guns, blowtorches and hot tea will take to the highways to help drivers who find themselves in difficult situations.

To monitor road conditions A video surveillance system is used at regional and intermunicipal levels. A separate list of “snow-covered” areas has been prepared, where speed limits have already been introduced. If the situation worsens, the list of such dangerous areas will be expanded.

In Krasnoyarsk During peak periods of precipitation, it is planned to attract additional harvesting equipment, extend work shifts and conduct round-the-clock monitoring. To quickly eliminate slipperiness, the roadway is treated with de-icing materials in conjunction with patrol sweeping. Particular emphasis will be placed on the condition of dedicated public transport lanes and stop pockets. Natural sand and technical salt are used to treat sidewalks. Contracting organizations have stockpiled regulatory reserves of PGMs and fuels and lubricants, said Dmitry Bezrukikh, head of the Department of Municipal Economy and Transport.

In addition, at the meeting of the regional commission they considered the problematic issue of the timing of concluding contracts for the maintenance of local roads in winter – about half of the municipalities have not yet done this. Sergei Vereshchagin instructed to take control of this work: “It is necessary to find out what is causing this backlog and to provide assistance to local governments in the newly formed municipal districts. It is necessary to coordinate the work of municipalities in maintaining road infrastructure, especially now, in winter. The region's roads must remain safe for all road users.”
