Shock in England » The best scorer in Liverpool's history has arrived in intensive care!

Legendary Liverpool and Wales striker Ian Rush is recovering in hospital after spending two days in intensive care with flu. Rush (64), who currently serves as an ambassador for the “Cormorants”, was hospitalized due to breathing difficulties, which is why he was transferred to intensive care.
Liverpool's all-time leading scorer with 346 goals in 660 games has responded well to treatment but remains under observation in hospital.
Ian Rush, admitted to intensive care
According to The Guardian, a Liverpool spokesman said “everyone at the club wishes him a speedy recovery” and was grateful to the hospital and its staff “for providing the best possible care to our club legend and ambassador”.
The Liverpool legend was hospitalized due to breathing difficulties, which is why he was transferred to intensive care. Although he responded well to treatment, Rush will remain under medical observation.
The greatest of Liverpool's giants
Ian Rush still holds the top spot on the list of Liverpool's top goalscorers and it doesn't look like anyone will dethrone him anytime soon. Behind him is Roger Hunt, who scored 285 goals for the club between 1958 and 1969.
The only active player who comes close to Rush's record is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is third on the list with 250 goals scored in all competitions. Salah, who signed a new contract with the Cormorants earlier this year, still needs 95 goals to overtake the Welshman. However, following the conflict with Arne Slot, Salah's future remains in doubt.

A brilliant career

In his two spells at Liverpool, Rush won five First Division titles, two European Champions Cups, three FA Cups and five League Cups. He was the club's top scorer in eight different seasons and won the Young Player of the Year (1983) and Peer Player of the Season (1984) awards.

For the national team of Wales he played 73 matches and scored 28 goals, being the second best scorer in the history of the nation, right after Gareth Bale. The legendary striker also played for Juventus, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield United and Wrexham before ending his career in Australia in Sydney.
Kudos to Salah
Following the announcement of Salah's new contract, Rush praised the Egyptian star.
“I'm happy he's signed for two years. Looking at his performances, I think between 28 and 29 you work on your weaknesses and after 30 you're taught to work on your strengths. I think Mo does exactly that and his work with younger players off the field often goes unnoticed,” said Ian Rush.
However, with Salah's future uncertain following the backlash caused by his alleged treatment at the hands of manager Arne Slot this season, he is unlikely to overtake Rush on the all-time leaderboard.
