President Karol Nawrocki has signed an amendment to the Goods and Services Tax Act, the president's office announced on Monday. Thanks to the new regulations, entrepreneurs will be able to continue to settle VAT on the import of goods directly in the tax return.

The act signed by the president provides that entrepreneurs will be able to continue to settle VAT related to the import of goods directly in the tax return. This applies to entrepreneurs who have permission to use simplified declaration and use it. In the author's opinion, the provisions are necessary because the introduction of the new customs system has deprived some companies using simplified declarations of this possibility.
Moreover, the Act extends the time for correcting the tax return when the taxpayer wants to settle the import of goods. This is to be possible within 4 months after the month in which the tax obligation arose. However, this will not be possible later than one month after the deadline for submitting a supplementary declaration.
The new regulations are intended to enable taxpayers who submit simplified declarations and have the consent of the customs authority to submit supplementary declarations within a period longer than 120 days to settle VAT on the import of goods directly in the tax return. (PAP)
