Flamengo prevailed against the Egyptians from Pyramids FCscore 2-0, in the semifinals of the Intercontinental Cup, and thus, the Brazilian club will fight with PSG in the last act of the competition.

  • The duel took place in Qatar, at Al Rayyan, at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium;

  • The final will be played on December 17, at the same stadium.

Flamengo won the Copa Libertadores on November 29, 1-0 in the final against Palmeiras, and around three weeks later, Filipe Luis' side will have another game with the trophy on the table.

This time, however, the mission of the “Rubro-Negro” formation is expected to be much more difficult, as the opponent will be PSG, the winner of the UEFA Champions League.

PSG – Flamengo, in the final of the Intercontinental Cup!

The group from the Parc des Princes got the tickets for the last act of the tournament in Qatar when they decisively defeated Inter, 5-0 in the final of the Champions League, as the team that wins the most important interclub competition in Europe automatically ensures its presence in the last match of the Intercontinental Cup.

On the other hand, Flamengo entered the game with the quarter-final stage, but did not get lost on the way. First, the Brazilian club beat Cruz Azul 2-1, and today, Filipe Luis's side beat Pyramids FC 2-0. The goals were signed by Leo Pereira (24'), respectively Danilo (52'), the man with the decisive assists in both successes being the Uruguayan Giorgian de Arrascaeta.

Of course, the Parisians are considered heavy favorites ahead of the final, which takes place on December 17, but the many injuries facing Luis Enrique's side and the rise of the Brazilian club in recent years may tip the balance.

Flamengo made a fine appearance at the Club World Cup

Another important argument that the “Malvadão” club has before the decisive duel is the good run since the World Club Championship, the event that took place in the summer.

Then, the formation prepared by Filipe Luis managed to win group D, which also included LAFC, Esperance de Tunis and, last but not least, Chelsea, the team that would win the trophy.

What's more, Flamengo managed to beat the Londoners, score 3-1. However, the elimination from the competition came in the round of 16, after a 2-4 with Bayern Munich.
