In the genre of museum installation, artist Leonid Tishkov reconstructs streamlined bodies made by Konstantin Tsiolkovsky for aerodynamic experiments. The geometric objects themselves have not survived; two photographs he took in 1910 remain. Their form is remarkably similar to future sculptures of 20th century modernists.
Tishkov’s drawings develop utopian motifs from Tsiolkovsky’s book “Grief and Genius” about the structure of public and private life, technology and management of the inhabitants of the future. The artist continues to be inspired by the ideas of the brilliant visionary and completes his ideal designs, putting them into art forms.
