Russians attacked a civilian ship in the Black Sea. Turkey's firm appeal


Russia does not take diplomatic efforts to end the war seriously, Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday, reporting on the Russian attack on a civilian ship in the port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine.

According to Reuters, which cites a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, a total of three Turkish ships in ports in the Odessa Oblast were damaged on Friday.

Türkiye calls for an end to the shelling and an end to the war

The Turkish authorities responded to the situation. Ankara called for an urgent end to the war in Ukraine and emphasized that Friday's attack highlights the threats it poses to navigation in the Black Sea.

Türkiye also called for an agreement to suspend attacks that pose a threat to shipping, energy and port infrastructure, in order to prevent escalation.

Turkish operator Cenk Denizcilik reported that in the Black Sea, the Russians damaged the cargo ship Cenk T, which sails between the port of Karasu in Turkey and Odessa. The missile hit the vessel that had just arrived at the quay. This caused a fire in the bow part of the ship.

Photos and recordings showing the ship's fire circulated online.

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba said that a “ferry” flying the Turkish flag and equipment used for reloading containers were damaged, and an employee of a private company was injured.
