Teodor Țigan, the former head of the Arad Forestry Directorate and former acting general director of Romsilva in the period 2020-2022, is obliged to return the retirement bonus, worth 280,520 lei, after a court decision, which is not final, the Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forests, Diana Buzoianu, announced on Friday. The director received a retirement bonus of 100,000 euros gross, after which he was rehired at Romsilva as director of the Arad Forestry Directorate, cumulating the pension with the salary, notes News.ro.

“Today, the court rejected the action brought by the director of the Arad forestry department, Mr. Șigan, kept the decision to terminate his employment contract and obliged the director to return the amount of 280,520 lei – the retirement bonus”, wrote the minister of the environment in a post on Facebook.

She stated that the court's decision is not final.

“Congratulations to the Romsilva lawyers for this preliminary result,” Buzoianu said.

The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) was referred by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice in relation to the situation of the former general director of Romsilva Teodor Ţigan, who was retired in 2023, he received a retirement bonus of 100,000 euros gross, after which he was rehired at Romsilva as director of the Arad Forestry Directorate, cumulating the pension with the salary, reported in August Clean Romania.

According to the cited site, ţigan could only collect the retirement premium upon the conclusion of the individual employment contract.

Moreover, after receiving the retirement bonus, he could only have been rehired through competition or selection, which, according to the website of the National Forestry Authority, did not happen, the source said.

Previously, Ţigan sued the director, after he was fired in March from DS Arad before the conclusion of the employment contract, valid until June.
