The agreement was signed on Thursday by representatives of the WB Group and the Armament Agency, responsible for the purchase of equipment for the Polish Army. This is the first executive agreement under a broader framework agreement concluded in May this year and providing for the delivery of up to 1,000 sets – 10,000. drones – for the Polish Army.

As part of the executive agreement signed on Thursday, the army will receive 36 Warmate sets, i.e. 360 drones, for approximately PLN 100 million this year. zloty. Warmate drones are the so-called loitering ammunition, kamikaze drones – armed with various types of warheads, they can be used, for example, to destroy enemy vehicles. Recently, WB Group presented a new, third generation of Warmate drones, characterized by, among others: increased range.

According to the Armament Agency, the Warmate loitering ammunition is intended to identify and destroy, depending on the warhead used, lightly armored targets or enemy infantry.

These drones can be used as a stand-alone system carried by soldiers or constitute a weapon integrated with a vehicle. The system is equipped with control modules enabling full automation of most flight phases and supporting the operator during the target guidance phase. Operation of the flying combat weapon takes place in real time, based on video transmission from the observation subsystem. The operator has full control over the selection of the system's operating mode, between multi-use reconnaissance mode and single-use combat mode – we read in the AU announcement.

WB Group is one of the largest private companies operating in the defense sector in Poland. It supplies the Polish army with, among others: battlefield communication and combat management systems for artillery – including e.g. Krab howitzers or Rak self-propelled mortars (TOPAZ system), communication systems for land forces – installed, among others, on Rosomak transporters in various configurations, as well as unmanned systems, including FlyEye and Warmate, successfully used by Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield.
