In Krasnoyarsk, a man accused of stealing a cable appeared in court, the press service of the regional police reported.

At the end of January 2024, employees of the traffic police regiment while patrolling the Preobrazhensky microdistrict in Krasnoyarsk noticed a man peeking out from behind a concrete fence.

The police decided to check him and examine him. In a man were identified two twists of copper cable, wrapped in a black plastic bag, and in the backpack there were metal cutters. He could not explain where the copper wires came from.

“The detainee was taken to police department No. 1 of the Krasnoyarskoye Municipal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, where a previously unconvicted resident of the regional center wrote a confession. As it turned out, some time ago he worked at the enterprise and knew that copper cables were stored there, so he decided to commit theft. The would-be thief managed to cut off the cable and even escape unnoticed, but did not manage to get far,” the police said.

As a result, the enterprise suffered damage amounting to more than 48 thousand rubles, and 35 meters of the stolen cable became suitable only as scrap metal and cannot be used for work.

Based on this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk sentenced the man to 2 years of suspended imprisonment.
