US President Donald Trump assessed that Europe is a “failing” group of nations ruled by “weak” people and signaled that he would support European political candidates who share his vision of the continent.

“I think they are weak,” Trump said of European political leaders. – I don't think they know what to do. Europe doesn't know what to do – he added.
The portal emphasized that these statements appeared at a particularly uncertain moment in the peace negotiations, when European leaders express concerns about Trump's abandonment of Ukraine and its continental allies in the face of Russian aggression.
Although the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, appealed to the White House on Monday to respect Europe's sovereignty and its right to self-government, Trump said in an interview with Politico that he would continue to support his favorite candidates in the European elections.
I would support it, Trump said. – I supported people, but I supported people that many Europeans do not like. I supported Viktor Orban, he emphasized.
Trump denied claims that he supported Orban financially (there were reports that the American president promised Orban a financial shield worth up to $20 billion – PAP)
– I didn't promise him anything, said the president, quoted by Reuters. – I didn't promise him anything, although of course he asked for it – he said.
Trump emphasized that Orban's anti-immigration policy is a success for the Hungarian leader and added that Poland also coped well with the migration problem, unlike other European capitals. Stating that he has good relations with European leaders, Trump accused them of destroying their countriesone of the proofs of which would be the fact that the mayor of London is a Muslim.
The president stated that he did not highly value the role of European leaders in their efforts to end the war caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine. “They talk but do nothing, and the war just goes on and on,” he said.
The Politico journalist asked the president to comment on the fact that the only country expressing satisfaction with the content of the new US security strategy (containing sharp criticism of Europe and the announcement of American interference on the continent – PAP) was Russia. She recalled that the Kremlin called the document published last week a “positive step” indicating the directions of American policy “largely consistent with Moscow's vision.” Trump replied that the Russian authorities “would like to see a weak Europe,” but that had nothing to do with him.
