Nikas Safronov met with the Pope in the Vatican and presented him with a painting from the International Space Station. He also received a blessing to create a personal collection for the Vatican.
A personal audience with the artist took place in the library of the Apostolic Palace. The donated canvas depicts the first place of ministry of Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Pope Francis' birth name) in Buenos Aires.
This picture was on the ISS from March to September 2022 and circled along with specialists in Earth’s orbit. The work was carried to the ISS station by Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev. Among other things, the Pope blessed Safronov to create a collection of paintings for the Vatican.
