The incidence of influenza and ARVI over the week in the Russian Federation increased by 19.3%, while the number of registered cases of influenza increased by 1.7 times compared to last week, the incidence of COVID-19 is also growing, it increased by 13.7% over the week, Rospotrebnadzor reported.
“In the Russian Federation, the incidence of respiratory infections generally corresponds to seasonal levels, while the incidence of ARVI and influenza continues to increase. In the 49th week of the current epidemic season, the incidence of ARVI and influenza increased by 19.3%. Over 23.4 thousand cases of influenza have been registered – 1.7 times more than the week before,” the department’s press service told reporters.
It is clarified that the greatest increase in the incidence of respiratory infections was registered in the regions of the Far East, Siberia, the Urals and the North-West. Among influenza viruses, the dominant strain is A(H3N2).
