According to the statement from the National Prosecutor's Office, the team will not conduct its own investigations, but will focus on analyzing files and monitoring cases regarding, among others, unauthorized access to cryptocurrency wallets, financial fraud by impersonating investment platforms, money laundering, terrorism financing, as well as espionage and drug crime.

The announcement noted that the team is to assess the correctness of the proceedings, set directions of action and analyze the validity of the final decisions made. In addition, his task will be to obtain information about new cases regarding the cryptocurrency market that will reach prosecutors' offices.
The team included three prosecutors from the National Prosecutor's Office, and was led by prosecutor Krzysztof Bukowiecki, Director of the Economic Crime Department of the National Prosecutor's Office. The team is to present a report summarizing its activities by the end of January 2026. This document is to include an assessment of the effectiveness of law enforcement activities, an analysis of the characteristics of cryptocurrency crime, and recommendations regarding legal and organizational changes.
The purpose of establishing the team, as emphasized, is not only to identify the scale and nature of crime in the cryptocurrency marketbut also to support prosecutors in the effective conduct of this type of proceedings. The announcement also indicated the need for possible changes in legal regulations or the organization of work of law enforcement agencies to better counteract the threats related to cryptocurrencies.
