A 'comprehensive report' is forthcoming
The presence of drones in Irish airspace during Zelenski's brief visit to Dublin last week is being investigated by Irish police.
The National Security Council is to present to the Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin a “comprehensive report” during the next week.
Ireland “understands the price of freedom”.
The Ukrainian president and his wife, Olena Zelenska, arrived in Dublin late on Monday night. The next day, on Tuesday, the Ukrainian president met with President Catherine Connolly and Prime Minister Micheal Martin, after which he gave a speech in parliament in Dublin, in which he said that Ireland “understand the price of freedom”.
The Journal first reported that unidentified drones were spotted flying over northeast Dublin as Zelenskiy's plane landed at Dublin Airport on Monday, shortly before 11:00 p.m. local time (23:00 GMT).
“I think it's fair to say that we believe this is part of a coordinated threat to the EU and Ukrainian interests. Our suspicion is that these drones were generated to put pressure on the EU and indeed on Ukrainian interests. I must say, however, that President Zelenskiy's visit to Dublin last week was a success. The police did a very good job of ensuring that security was at a high level.”added Minister Jim O'Callaghan.
Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin warned that there was a “significant escalation of hybrid attacks” against EU member states.
He said the Irish government would increase spending on defense capabilities before Ireland takes over the six-monthly presidency of the EU Council on July 1 next year. “Regarding this, the National Security Council will meet shortly and I will receive a detailed report”explained the head of the executive from Dublin.
We remind you that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is meeting with European leaders in London on Monday, in a show of solidarity, against the backdrop of criticism by US President Donald Trump and favorable reactions from the Kremlin to the new security strategy adopted by Washington.
