Nicușor Bancu: “Sometimes football is unfair”
At the end of the game in Craiova, Nicușor Bancu spoke about several topics. About his team's game, about the phase in which David Matei made a mistake and the phase from CFR's goal was triggered, but also about the match with Sparta Praga in the Conference.
“Every time in the opposing team the best player is the goalkeeper. It's frustrating for us, because we have so many chances and we don't manage to score more, and the opponent at the first opportunity charges us. Sometimes football is unfair and we must take the good side of things. We played a good match, we are a very good team and we are proud of what we did tonight”, said Nicușor Bancu at the flash-interview at the end of the game, for Digi Sport.
The team captain also spoke about David Matei, a player who cried at the end of the game. This is the one who lost the ball in the phase of the goal scored by CFR Cluj, and Bancu sent him his encouragement.
“There were matches where we managed to score on every occasion, but there are also matches like today, where we don't manage to score more goals. That's how it is in football. We try to improve in finishing, but unfortunately it doesn't work out for us in the match. I'm proud of the team, the way we played, and for me we won, even if we only took one point. I'm sorry for that accidental goal. It's not anyone's fault, it's the team's fault.
We can't blame Matei. I saw that he cried at the end of the match, but I want to encourage him. I am also guilty of missing the 1-1 opportunity with the goalkeeper, others missed in front of the goal. It's everyone's fault and we're moving forward,” he said.
Bancu also spoke about the match with Sparta Prague in the Conference League, a game that can be decisive in the fight for qualification in the European spring.
“We are optimistic before Thursday's game and I think we can get a positive result. The game makes us believe that. If we played badly and didn't manage to dominate the teams and have so many chances, we could think that we have no chance. As long as everywhere we played, we had more chances than the opposition team, we are confident. We are a strong team and it will be our turn to score more and tie more victories.
We are loved very much by the people in Craiova, we also did some performance in Europe, and the people are satisfied with what they see. This makes people come to the stadium in such large numbers. The fans rose to the occasion tonight and I want to thank them for that. I hope we can win on Thursday and enjoy a historic qualification“, he concluded.
