The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, said that the party won in 12 of the 14 places in the country where elections were held on Sunday. Speaking about the situation in the Capital, he said that the result obtained by Daniel Băluță, ranked 3rd, is in the “political score” area of the formation. “It is a score that does not satisfy us”, admitted the social democrat, noting that it can still represent “a starting point for the reconstruction of the organization in Bucharest”.
The PSD leader congratulated the liberal Ciprian Ciucu for his victory.
“I congratulate Ciprian Ciucu for the victory in Bucharest. I also congratulate Daniel Băluță for the fact that he ran a fair campaign. His attitude was the right one, we believed and we still believe that Bucharest needs modernization solutions. The people of Bucharest have decided and Ciprian Ciucu is obviously (…) the new general mayor. I wish him success,” said Sorin Grindeanu, Sunday night, in a press conference.
He stated that Daniel Băluță will remain in charge of the PSD Bucharest organization.
“We have a score that is in the, let's say, political score, which means a good starting point for the reconstruction of the Bucharest organization (…). You can't consider the fact that you're in 3rd place a victory. Obviously, it's a defeat,” Grindeanu added.
Asked by HotNews how he explains the fact that Daniel Băluță only won Sector 4, and the other two PSD mayors of the sector and Vlad Popescu Piedone failed to mobilize the electorate, Sorin Grindeanu said that “an analysis” must be done.
“It's an analysis that we will have to do in the Bucharest organization, obviously. You can say that including the 4th Sector approximately equal (…), but obviously we have to do an analysis to see why these things happened and what didn't work,” said the PSD president.
The PSD leader congratulated Marcel Ciolacu
Sorin Grindeanu said that Marcel Ciolacu's victory in the elections for the presidency of the Buzău County Council “shows that the PSD continues to lead” in areas considered “PSD fiefdoms”.
“Today they went to vote in a reasonable number, in the rain, in the cold, they went and cast their vote. Regarding the results, let me start by congratulating Marcel Ciolacu, 52%, a very good result, a result that shows that the PSD continues to lead in the fiefdoms that you and we consider PSD fiefdoms. Of course, I can't get over the fact that, in Buzau, Marcel Ciolacu had joint counter-candidate, joint PNL-USR candidate, who took 10%”, the PSD president also declared.
