Valentin Badea (43 years old) had an intervention on the GSP Live show in which he spoke about his former coach from FC Vaslui, Ioan Sdrobiș, who died on the morning of December 8that the age of 79.
Ioan Sdrobiș died at home, in Târgu Ocna, around 6 o'clock in the morning. The former Romanian coach will be buried on Wednesday, December 10, at the central cemetery in Bacău. Sdrobiș has undergone several operations in recent years, and the recurrence of the head tumor has weakened him a lot.
Valentin Badea, shortly after the death of Ioan Sdrobiș: “He is the man who left his mark on my career”
“I expected it. For about two or three months he was in a very, very bad condition. He had lost a lot of weight, he stopped eating, he could no longer speak. I am so sorry. He couldn't talk anymore, I kept in touch with his family.
I went to see him a month ago, but he could no longer speak. Thanks to him, I became a footballer who played in League 1, at the most important club in the country. I owe my whole career to him. His advice has always been the letter of the law for me.
But, the sentimental relationship that I felt that he had for me and I for him… He was like a father to me. The same feelings I had for my father I felt for him.
He was a man who talked a lot, but he was never mean. How many times I had discussions with him… When I was at Steaua, he criticized Lăcătuș or whoever was the coach. He was not a man with a bad heart. He talked a lot, but he had no malice.
He spoke extraordinarily well of Mr. Lucescu. Only on TV he spoke ill, but behind the scenes I never heard him speak ill of anyone“, said Vali Badea, at GSP Live.
At the end of the intervention, moderator Alexandru Barbu asked Vali Badea to recall an incident with his former coach.
– Tell us an incident with you and Ioan Sdrobiș. I remember, you told us on the show, at Vaslui, when you scored in a match and he hit you… I don't remember exactly.
– That beat helped me! (no laughs).
– And the stadium started booing…
– Yes. It doesn't matter anymore! It's a sad day for me. I'm sorry, God forgive him! He is the man who left his mark on my career.
