Deputy George Simion, the leader of AUR, urged the people who have not yet voted to “exercise” this right and claims that the party is doing “parallel counting” both for the elections at the Capital City Hall and for those at the Buzău County Council, where he claims that the mayors of the localities in the county “influence the citizens and tell them who they should vote for”.

In a short press conference Sunday evening, the AUR leader told citizens that the vote “helps more than 100 protests.”

“I'm calling on everyone who can vote to go by 9 p.m. and exercise that vote,” added George Simion.

He claims that he “found that part of the state institutions and part of the system wants to give us a winner in advance, through exit polls and fake surveys.”

“In Buzău county we have big problems with mayors who enter the polling stations, in their own estates, influence the citizens and indicate to them who they should vote for. The score is also close in Buzău county (…). We are optimistic and hope that a year after the cancellation of the elections, Romania's democratic course can resume, in one form or another, and we hope to reach national reconciliation”, continued the AUR leader.

Answering reporters' questions, Simion said that AUR is doing a “parallel count” in both Bucharest and Buzau, and estimates that “around 10 p.m.” it will be able to come “with exact figures from the polling stations.”

“We have parallel counting and that is precisely why we believe that around 10 p.m. we can come up with accurate figures from the polling stations, counted ballots. And in Bucharest, and in Buzau, we have parallel counting. We do not believe in the results of the exit polls,” George Simion also declared.
