Alicia Gogîrlă (22 years old), the right winger of the Romanian women's handball team, had a message for her mother, former great athlete Simona Gogîrlă (50 years old).

Alicia Gogîrlă is the only left-handed player from the 9-meter line of Romania at the current World Championship. He didn't get on the scoresheet in all the games, but against Senegal he came in with a lot of enthusiasm. He scored twice with long shots, then delivered an exuberant statement.

“As always, it's a pride to listen to the anthem. My biggest pride! I feel like I'm following in my mom's footsteps. Hi mom! I feel like I'm following in her footsteps and starting to do things better and better,” Alicia said in the clip posted on the national team's social media accounts.

He continued with a message addressed to Simona Gogîrlă: “I love you and thank you for being close. Know that you didn't raise a whiner. You raised a gangster!”

For Alicia Gogîrlă, this year's final tournament is the third in her career. He made his debut at the 2023 World Cup and had encouraging developments at Euro 2024.

In the matches in Rotterdam, the right winger registered at SCM Craiova collected 40 minutes and 42 seconds. He scored three times.

Simona Gogîrlă, a huge name in Romanian handball

Simona Gogîrlă participated in three editions of the World Championship, 2001, 2003 and 2005, being world youth champion in 1995.

In 2005, when her mother won the world senior silver medal, Alicia was only two years old. He continued to grow in handball halls. Simona retired from playing as a player in 2008, continuing as a coach.
