New US strategy: greater European autonomy, less American involvement
The document emphasizes the need to “restore stability in Europe”, normalize strategic relations with Russia and “ending the perception of NATO as an ever-expanding alliance.”
It is an important element of the strategy giving European countries greater responsibility for their own defense. The USA also announces rebuilding internal strength and focusing on competition with its main global rivals – primarily China. This direction of change raises concerns on the Old Continent about the future of the security guarantees on which the European defense system was based for decades.

The BBN describes the US document as a “fundamental reconstruction.” Donald Tusk also reacts
In response to the publication of the American strategy, the National Security Office prepared a broad analysis of its consequences for Poland and the region. In the opinion of analysts the document represents a “fundamental overhaul of the United States' approach to the world”in which Washington shifts the emphasis from global activity to protecting its own sovereignty and superpower competition.
The National Security Bureau emphasizes that these changes have a far-reaching impact on Europe, and especially on the countries of NATO's eastern flank. Increasing defense responsibility on the European side, on the one hand, carries greater risks, but on the other hand, it opens new strategic opportunities for Poland. The document – as indicated – strengthens the geopolitical importance of the region, but at the same time forces greater independence in the field of security.

In this context, Donald Tusk's Saturday entry can be read as an appeal to Americans about the need to maintain transatlantic unity. “Europe is your closest ally, not your problem. We also have common enemies“- wrote the Prime Minister.
As he added, For 80 years, Europe and the USA had common opponents and common goals. “This is the only reasonable strategy for our common security” – he emphasized, suggesting that abandoning this approach could pose a serious threat to both sides.
The head of government posted his comment in English, which indicates that he addressed it directly to the recipients in Washington. His words are part of the increasingly palpable nervousness in European capitals after the publication of the new American strategy, which heralds serious reshuffles in US foreign policy priorities.
