From December 8, citizens of Russia and friendly countries will be able to transfer foreign currency abroad without volume restrictions, the Bank of Russia reported.
The Bank of Russia has decided to abolish limits on transfers of funds abroad for Russian citizens and non-resident individuals from friendly countries, it is reported on website Central Bank of the Russian Federation. These changes will come into force on December 8 against the backdrop of a stable situation on the foreign exchange market.
At the same time, according to the regulator, from December 8, 2025 to June 7, 2026, the previously existing restrictions for non-resident individuals from unfriendly countries will remain: working citizens will be able to transfer only an amount equivalent to their wages. For non-residents and legal entities from unfriendly countries not working in Russia, the ban on transferring funds abroad will continue to apply.
Restrictions do not apply to foreign companies that are under the control of Russian legal entities or individuals. In addition, operations involving the transfer of funds by foreign investors investing in the Russian financial market are also not subject to these prohibitions – they can transfer funds from “In” type accounts abroad.
The regulator also noted that Russian credit institutions can make transfers in rubles to correspondent accounts of banks from unfriendly countries if the sender and recipient’s accounts are opened in foreign banks.
Let us remind you that the limit on transfers through money transfer systems remained at the level of 10 thousand dollars per month.
