Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane (54) launched a scathing attack on his former club, accusing the players of being “scared” and lacking quality after they drew 1-1 with West Ham at Old Trafford.

Although Manchester United took the lead in the 58th minute through Diogo Dalot's goal, the Hammers hit back in the 83rd minute through Soungoutou Magassa and managed to leave unbeaten.

Roy Keane, a new tirade at Manchester United players: “They defended like a team of amateurs”

Present in the Sky Sports studio, the legendary Manchester United captain vehemently criticized Ruben Amorim's players.

“You try to do better when you're one goal up against a team in the bottom three and Everton who were outnumbered. If you can't manage that, how can you manage being a team at the top? If they're anxious, you wonder why they're playing for Manchester United and why are they scared. Afraid of West Ham, why?!

This team is not ready to finish 5th in the league! I watched the matches closely, the lack of quality and intensity. They scored two goals against Palace but defended like an amateur team.

When you look at the lot, given the money spent, they lack depth, especially in offensive areas. I was looking at Mason Mount when he came in, he was like a schoolboy thereRoy Keane raged.

Fellow analyst and former team-mate Gary Neville shared Keane's frustrations, highlighting United's poor form at home which has seen them drop five points in their last two matches.

“There's real frustration that they keep having these opportunities – one point in six against Everton and West Ham at home. They haven't played well enough, they've let games slip away.”
