Former ambassador to the US has harsh words about Trump's envoys. “A strange delegation”

Why is this important?
On Tuesday, the US delegation of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on ending the war in Ukraine. This meeting – according to the Russian side – did not bring any breakthrough, although it was “constructive”. Meanwhile, a White House representative said the meeting was “detailed and productive.” In turn, US President Donald Trump said the talks were “very good”. However, he added that “it takes two to tango.”
What did Marek Magierowski say?
– It was a bizarre lineup – said Magierowski on Polsat News, referring to the US delegation in Moscow, which included Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. — These two gentlemen have no diplomatic experience whatsoever. They don't know Russia, they don't know the language or the Russian mentality. They are loyal to their boss, the US president. They were exploited in this field. And we don't see the results of the negotiations, he added.
Why does the US want to end the conflict in Ukraine?
According to Magierowski, the US administration is seeking to quickly end the war in Ukraine in order to focus on other regions of the world, such as the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean Sea. “American policy is focused on the Western Hemisphere,” the former ambassador explained. He also added that Donald Trump may be driven by a personal obsession with winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
What are the consequences of excluding Europe from the negotiations?
Magierowski noted that Europe was excluded from peace negotiations regarding Ukraine. “The Americans know perfectly well that not inviting her is convenient for them because they can guess over our heads,” he said.
How to assess Polish-Ukrainian relations?
The former ambassador also referred to the relations between Poland and Ukraine. — In 2022, the reaction brought us a lot of splendor, we put real politics aside, Magierowski said. He added that Poland should have adopted a more assertive approach earlier. — Ukraine may be our ally, but it is also a competitor, he emphasized.
