Almost half of Russian companies consider telecom operators as strategic partners of digital transformation.
According to a joint study by MegaFon and the Association of Managers, 46% of executives expect operators to participate in the development of digital processes and business architecture, and 52% expect a deep understanding of the industry and the ability to offer comprehensive solutions.
The study shows that Russian business is becoming more open to digital products that telecom operators are able to provide on a par with IT companies. Managers note interest in the implementation of cloud solutions and automation technologies, big data analysis tools, digital marketing products, cybersecurity systems and services built on the basis of artificial intelligence.
In these areas, telecoms are already considered reliable technology partners: 55% of companies are ready to engage them to implement cloud solutions, 54% for data analytics tasks, 53% for digital marketing tools, 49% for AI-based products.
Among the most relevant areas of digitalization that are being implemented now or are planned to be launched in the next six months, respondents most often name cybersecurity technologies and big data analytics.
MegaFon remains one of the most recognizable players in areas where demand is growing most rapidly, the study shows. The operator is confidently perceived as an expert in digital advertising, cybersecurity, cloud services and AI-based products. Thus, 67% of respondents reported knowledge of the company’s competencies in digital marketing, 54% in cybersecurity, 47% in products based on artificial intelligence, and 44% in leadership in the cloud solutions market.
“For business, it is not the technologies themselves that are important, but their synergy. The study proves that companies are looking for a partner who will put together a working mechanism from various solutions, in which telecom operators already act as technology partners. And MegaFon is already implementing this model. We design solutions that integrate the best developments and domestic solutions – from AI and cloud platforms to cybersecurity tools. This is not a set of services, but end-to-end digital processes that cover the real needs of clients,” says Alexander Sorokoumov, director for development of cloud services and information security services at MegaFon.
The key characteristics of a sought-after digital services provider remain an understanding of the industry, a willingness to work in a strategic partnership format, the presence of a wide technology portfolio, the ability to introduce innovations and develop areas of import substitution. One in five executives noted the importance of the supplier's own technology ecosystem.
