Radosław Sikorski harshly about President Karol Nawrocki. “No thank you”

Both the government and the Presidential Palace present different visions of Poland's role in global politics. Donald Tusk's cabinet focuses on close cooperation with the EU, active support for Ukraine and deepening relations with the main Western partners. President Nawrocki, however, according to his critics, more often distances himself from Brussels, emphasizing the need for a “sovereign policy”, and on many issues is getting closer to the positions of the American administration.

The dispute over ambassadors is therefore not only a technical administrative problem, but an element of a larger political clash. For weeks, both sides have been exchanging accusations of blocking strategic decisions and weakening Poland's position abroad.
Radosław Sikorski criticizes the actions of President Karol Nawrocki. “He attacks the European Union and Ukraine”
“War on the borders and an American-Russian reset is coming. Mr. President, instead of intervening with his patron in Washington, attacks the European Union and Ukraine,” wrote the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These words once again highlight the growing conflict between the government and the head of state, especially in the area of foreign policy.

These tensions are growing at an exceptionally difficult time for the region. Russia's military activity continues to be high east of Poland's borders, and there is speculation in Washington about a possible attempt to warm relations with the Kremlin. Sikorski suggests that in such a situation, Warsaw should act decisively and coherently, using all available diplomatic channels. Meanwhile, as he claims, the president is limiting cooperation and engaging in disputes with Western European partners and Kiev.
Blocked ambassadorial nominations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In his entry, Sikorski also raised the issue of filling key positions in Polish diplomacy. “He does not sign ambassadorial nominations for 40 Polish diplomats. No, because no“- he accused the president. The lack of a signature from the head of state results in the freezing of the activities of some foreign missions, which – according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – weakens the ability to respond to the dynamically changing international situation.. This is another stage of the dispute regarding competences and directions of foreign policy, which has been going on since the beginning of Nawrocki's term.
Sikorski's entry ends with a short, symbolic “No thanks“.
