About You store under the microscope of UKOiK. Customers wait for weeks for their money


Referring to letters and customer opinions, the website points to numerous signals about unpaid money, ignored consumer messages and chaotic contact with customer service.
One of the people who contacted the Wyborcza.biz editorial office was Mrs. Alicja. She returned an order worth over PLN 1,200.

The package she ordered arrived at the company's warehouse on October 15. From that moment the problems started: no response, no money and automatically generated confirmations. Despite repeated attempts to contact her, she did not receive a refund. There are more similar voices on the Internet. Wyborcza.biz informs about parcels for which customers have been waiting for months, conflicting information from the hotline and canceled orders for which the money was lost for many weeks.

German store About You with problems. Weeks of waiting for a refund
Mrs. Urszula, according to the portal, sent back four out of five items purchased for approximately PLN 3,000. zloty. She demanded a refund of PLN 2,343. Despite the statutory 14-day deadline, this did not happen and the hotline consistently provided contradictory information. Only the threat to report the case to the prosecutor's office and official pre-trial summons, also issued in German, brought any effect.

Laila Helmy, head of communications at About You, explains the situation to Wyborcza.biz as a “seasonal increase in the number of returns”, “incomplete documents” and “technical delays”. He assures that the matters will be investigated and that transparency and timeliness are a “priority”.

The editors also asked the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection for a comment. He assured that he was “preparing a request to the entrepreneur to provide explanations regarding the reported problems.” “If during the analysis there is a suspicion of a violation of the prohibition of practices violating the collective interests of consumers, it will be possible to take further actions. If the collected information indicates the possibility of fraud, law enforcement authorities will be competent to take action“- assured UKOiK.
