The mayor of Alba Iulia, Gabriel Pleşa, reacted after, in the capital of the Great Union, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was booed, and the moments when wreaths were laid by President Nicusor Dan were also met with disapproval. Pleşa claims that those who booed are not the locals, but people “brought in, it will be seen by whom”. The mayor announces that the organizers of some demonstrations will no longer receive approvals for them to take place on the National Day in Alba Iulia.
“I am convinced that I am not from Alba Iulia or the surrounding area, because those from Alba Iulia have always celebrated the National Day with decency, with unity, with empathy towards others. We are sorry that such elements that came from outside the city, brought, and we will see by whom, slightly spoiled this ceremony, which nevertheless took place flawlessly from the point of view of the military parade”, declared the mayor Gabriel Pleşa (PNL), on Sunday afternoon, for ziarulunirea.ro, quoted by News.ro.

“I promised and I will keep my word: those who did not respect what we told them through Law 60 and were obliged to respect the demonstrations, the organizers will no longer receive approval to hold demonstrations even on the National Day, because it is a shame in such a beautiful world to hear a chorus of boos or things like this from a minority who, I think, should be ashamed because they have such demonstrations on the National Day. Respect democracy, I respect free expression, but there must be decency”, added Pleşa in the statement given to journalists from Ziarul Unirea.
