Drones will track down wolves killing children around Bahraich, India. Foresters will use drones to monitor, track and hunt man-eating wolves in India after nine people, mostly children, were attacked and killed in recent weeks, officials said on Sunday, according to Mediafax.

The decision was taken as a result of the attacks, but also of the warnings from specialists. They noticed a change in the behavior of the wolves, who became unusually active during the day.

In addition to drones, camera traps and sniper shelters have been set up in the area.

The ninth victim is a 10-month-old girl who was abducted by a wolf while sleeping next to her mother. The incident occurred on Saturday in the city of Bahraich in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Later, the child was found dead in a field.

The day before, a five-year-old boy was kidnapped from the front of the house. He too was found abandoned in the field and could no longer be saved by the doctors.

The attacks started three months ago

Similar attacks took place last year in the same region. Then a pack of wolves killed at least nine people and injured several more. Experts say that wolves attack humans only as a last resort, when they are hungry. They prefer less dangerous prey, such as small antelopes.

Most of India's approximately 3,000 wolves live outside protected areas, often close to human-populated areas.
