In the first match of the World Championship, Romania easily defeated Croatia, score 33-24, and hope and confidence in a positive result against Japan increased. The duel with the Japanese was, however, a carousel of emotions, a game of “runs” that more often characterizes basketball, not handball.

Show offered by the players of Romania: cheers of joy and smiles up to the ears!

Every time our players managed to distance themselves to 2-3 goals and fight to consolidate their advantage, the Asians came back and restored the tie. This unpredictability caused strong emotions not only to the Romanian supporters, but also to the tricolors.

Therefore, in the end, after Romania settled the match, there followed a total release, an hour of joy and a sincere celebration. The atmosphere within the group has been wonderful since the first days of the training camp, a visible aspect also during the team's training.

But, as they say, victories bring victories, and more than that, they help strengthen the unit. Therefore, the joy of the success against Japan was evident, and the Romanian players offered sensational images captured by GSP photojournalist Ionuț Iordache.

The exuberance of the tricolors continued in the mixed area, where they answered journalists' questions with big smiles, clapped their hands with them and even took them in their arms. The players' celebration will have to stop tonight, however, as stated by the national coach:

“The girls will not celebrate tonight, they will focus on the next game. All games are important. We see what happened in these first games at the World Cup.”
