The state should finance Ukrzaliznytsia so that people are not left without trains
Passenger transportation has become an unbearable burden for Ukrzaliznytsia: in 2025, losses will exceed UAH 22 billion. If there is no budgetary support, the transport accessibility of hundreds of villages and towns will be at risk.
For many Ukrainians, suburban trains are the only way to get to a hospital, school, work or administrative services. If there is no budget funding, millions of citizens may find themselves in isolation, and local economies may decline, say the All-Ukrainian Association of Communities.
The association called on the deputies to provide 22-25 billion UAH for passenger transportation in the 2026 state budget and to make this support systematic. There they say: this is not an expense, but an investment in the mobility of people, in the social stability and defense capability of the country.
