The legend of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, Sergio Ramos (39 years old, central defender), decided to leave the Mexican team Monterrey, but ruled out the idea of retirement.
Sergo Ramos' contract with the Mexican team is due to expire, and the footballer will become free of contract on January 1, 2026.
Sergio Ramos wants to play for Spain at the 2026 World Cup
Sergio Ramos has played 31 times for Monterrey, scoring seven goals and receiving one red card during that time.
It seems that Ramos has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet and is considering a return to a top European league. The defender decided to leave for family reasons, as well as the desire to participate in next year's World Cup, according to sportal.hu.
Current Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has not called up Ramos since his appointment, with the player's last appearance for the national team coming in 2021 under Luis Enrique.
Ramos left Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 after 16 years at the blanco club. At the time, publications close to the club wrote that the footballer was offered a 1-year extension, but that he wanted a two-year contract.
Ramos finally decided to accept the 1-year extension, but the club told him that the offer had expired, that his answer would come after the deadline communicated to the negotiations. He later played two years at PSG, one at Sevilla, and since February he has been wearing Monterrey's jersey.
