The State Duma called for the development of measures against the spread in Russia of “destructive children’s literature” that is dangerous for the state
In her appeal, the head of the Family Protection Committee, Nina Ostanina, refers to a study by the Russian Writers' Union, which included 930 children's books.
The study authors concluded that about 60% of these books “strictly correspond” to five “destructive directions” that form “negative attitudes in the minds of children.” For example, among the “anti-values” listed in the letter were:
— The theme of betrayal of “all by all” (each other, country, society);
– Man is like an animal, when human nature is “reduced to instincts”, “high ideals” are ignored;
– Changing social roles, including – rejection of the “traditional roles” of men and women;
— Normalization of “deviations” and “indifference to the future.”
As noted in the appeal, such ideas penetrate the child’s subconscious and form a perception of the world, which “can affect the security of the state.”
An example of “destructive literature” is the book “Soldier” by the Italian writer Cristina Bellemo. It talks about a soldier who always thought only about war until he saw that there was a peaceful life, and then he “took off his uniform.”
There is a line in the book that after this “no one accused him of desertion,” the appeal states. The Committee recalled that Desertion in Russia is criminally punishable, and that the defense of the Fatherland is citizen's duty.
