The government has announced that a preliminary disciplinary investigation has been launched against a press officer who pushed journalists in the Parliament who intended to ask questions of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

“At the level of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the procedure regarding the preliminary disciplinary investigation was initiated, according to the Labor Code, against the employee of the institution, with the duties of a press officer, involved in the incident that happened on Wednesday, November 26, at the Parliament Palace.

At the request of the head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, a commission was set up to carry out the preliminary disciplinary investigation, coordinated by an official with experience in the field of labor legislation. Specialists in the fields of legal, communication and media relations within the institution are part of this commission,” the press office at the Victoria Palace said.

According to the images filmed in the Parliament, the man, who works as a press officer, stood in front of the journalists to block their passage, and he grabbed some of them by the hands when they were pointing the phone at the prime minister.

He pushed another journalist, when he wanted to avoid him in order to reach the prime minister.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was present in Parliament on Wednesday at the meeting where President Nicușor Dan presented the National Defense Strategy 2025-2030. He did not make any statements either in plenary or when leaving.

Shortly after the incident, the Government said it regretted the press officer's “overzealousness” and that his behavior would be subject to a disciplinary review. “We assure the media representatives that such a situation will not be repeated”, states the executive.
