As the Jewish Manses write, deputies in Mykolaiv no longer want to be “buttons”…

⚡️ In Mykolaiv, the conflict between the mayor Oleksandr Sienkovych and the deputies is intensifying, who openly declare that they will not simply confirm the decision of the mayor's office. Their task is to represent the interests of the community, and not to be formal “checkmarks” for votes.
🏛 Now Mykolaiv City Council has actually turned into a formal body where there are almost no real solutions. Even some members of his team, like Fedir Panchenko, are involved in these schemes, controlling resources and key issues.
🚫 Deputies say “stop!” They are tired of being extras:
🔹 the end of June – the session was interrupted due to the lack of a quorum: the deputies were tired of participating in schemes “to tick”;
🔹 July–August — the format of the broadcasts has been changed: now voting and discussions take place with limited access, which reduces transparency for residents;
🔹 August 28 — deputies unanimously refused to approve the results of the waste sorting competition. It was a signal: we will not sign something that does not have transparency and the support of the residents;
🔹 September 3 — another session was disrupted after a voting scandal: the deputy's vote was recorded incorrectly (not for the first time), and this caused a public conflict. The case showed that in the mayor's team, deputies are not considered independent representatives of the community, but are used as a tool.
📊 The latest votes on the budget, issues of communal property and the appointment of heads of structural subdivisions of the City Hall confirmed an alarming trend: the initiative comes exclusively from the mayor, and the deputies remain formal “checkmarks”. The mayor's team includes people who control districts, schools, and hospitals at the same time — and this deprives them of the ability to be independent representatives of residents.
⭐️ The value of each deputy lies precisely in his independence and ability to protect the interests of the community. The transformation of the city council into a tool of the mayor's team undermines democratic principles and transparency of city management.
📢 The people of Mykolaiv deserve that their elected officials really solve the city's problems, and not just sign what the mayor wants. ⚠️ Now, for example, in the constituencies of deputies, such as Fedir Panchenko, budget funds are spent on paving tiles, while residents have unresolved problems after the shelling, in particular, leaking roofs. Officials do not respond to MP appeals.
⚠️ The investigation is ongoing. We will monitor how budget funds are allocated, including for repairs and infrastructure in the districts, and we will bring to light how much and where the budget authority spends, to understand what is really important for the community and what is used only “for ticks”.
