Train hits workers in China. 11 people dead


The accident occurred in the morning at Luoyang Station near the city of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province.

According to the state-owned railway company, the test train, intended to test seismic detection equipment, was moving “normally” along a curve at the station when “it collided with workers who had entered the tracks.”

Emergency procedures were initiated immediately after the incident and the injured people were taken to hospital, Xinhua reported. Train traffic at the station has already been restored. The railway authorities expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced that they would hold accountable those who contributed to the disaster.

Similar accidents have occurred in China before, including: in June 2021, when in Gansu province a train hit a group of nine workers working on the track, causing their death.
