The president of the National Health Insurance House, Dr. Horatiu-Remus Moldovan, stated that “2025 is the year when confidence in vaccines returns strongly”, after he noted an increase in Romanians' interest in immunization. Only the HPV vaccine registered an increase of almost 49%, informs News.ro.

“Romanians are again choosing prevention through vaccination, and the CNAS data confirm a growing mobilization: 2025 is the year when confidence in vaccines returns strongly! A comparative analysis of the consumption of vaccines issued through open-circuit pharmacies, based on prescription, in the first nine months of 2024 and 2025, highlights clear trends of increasing Romanians' interest in immunization, reported on Wednesday in the evening, the president of CNAS, Horaţiu-Remus Moldovan.

According to him, 124,820 doses of the HPV vaccine were administered this year, until September, compared to 83,824 a year ago. “An increase of almost 49% that shows a change of attitude and mature decisions for the health of future generations”, the quoted source said.

Also, 2,695 people received the meningococcal vaccine in 2025, compared to 1,218 people in 2024, which represents an increase of 121%. 26,779 people were immunized with the pneumococcal vaccine in 2025, compared to 21,100 in 2024. increasing by 27%. 1,806 doses of hepatitis B vaccine were administered, compared to 1,007 in 2024, in this case the increase was 80%.

“For the vaccines administered in the first nine months of this year, CNAS paid over 111.1 million lei, of which 87 million lei covered the costs of the vaccines that provide protection against HPV infection. All these data are clear evidence that, despite the noise and waves of misinformation on medical topics, people understand that a healthy community starts with decisions based on correct information,” the president of CNAS said.

According to him, when more and more parents request the HPV vaccine for their children, when more and more active or chronically ill people choose to get vaccinated, “we can not only talk about a healthier population in the medium and long term, but also about a health system that can manage its resources more wisely, freed from the burden and pressure of additional payments generated by diseases that can be prevented by vaccination”.

“I wish that, together with the Ministry of Health, we will be able to expand prevention services also in terms of vaccination, and this is possible with the premises we have created to support family doctors and increase their payment for prevention consultations. As a doctor, I strongly believe that vaccination should be done in the doctor's office. He is the only professional who can evaluate the medical history, risks, real needs of each patient and can do the correct medical examination before the administration of the vaccine, as well as the supervision of reactions that may occur post-vaccination”, the doctor also transmitted.
