Poli Iasi started excellently under the command of the new technician Tibor Selymes (55 years old). The Moldovan team prevailed on Tuesday evening, at home, with 1-0 against Chindia Târgoviște, in a duel from the 14th stage of League 2.

The winning goal was scored in the 79th minute by Sekou Camara, after a game largely controlled by the people of Iași.

Tibor Selymes, delighted after the first match: “The kids understood what I want from them”

The coach of Poli Iași made his debut and declared himself happy with the way the team reacted:

“I knew it would be a tough match. Chindia has 10-11 players with Super League experience. The kids understood what I wanted from them, they were very well organized defensively and we didn't leave any spaces.”

The technician believes that the second half made the difference:

“In the first half we were in a bit of a hurry, but in the second half we played very well. We had a lot of chances, two bars… they deserve congratulations, they gave their lives on the pitch. From now on, we have to score more.”

Even though Poli missed a lot, Selymes says he felt from the bench that the goal was coming:

“I had confidence because I saw their desire. It was impossible not to score. They had no chance, we had so many. We have two very difficult games coming up, but we are taking everything step by step.”

The new technician of Iași spoke about the financial problems: “They left them aside, they are good children”

Selymes also spoke about the internal money discussions:

For a day or two we talked about money, that's normal. But then they focused on the game. I congratulate them for putting the issues aside. The situation will be resolved, there is no ill will.”

Poli Iași climbs the ranking and aims for the play-off

The victory brings Poli Iasi to 9th place, with 24 points, just two lengths away from the play-off zone.

Chindia remains in 11th place, with 21 points, after 14 stages.
