The transitional fee for energy should be phased out from next year, thanks to which the amount on the bill will drop by a few zlotys, said the Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, on Wednesday. He added that the ministry is carrying out investment and legislative activities to make the price of electricity even lower.

– The energy transition fee should be phased out; we should stop downloading it from next year, I have made such a decision – said Minister Motyka on Polsat News. He added that thanks to this, the amount on the electricity bill should drop by a few zlotys.

Once again, the Minister of Energy expressed hope that the prices approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office will be lower than those currently frozen.

In turn, in the radio program “Poranek Siódma”, Motyka said that the ministry is taking systemic measures – investment and legislative – to lower the price of electricity. Among the planned actions, he mentioned the introduction of cheap energy sources and reforming the energy system to reduce “a number of fees.” He added that, for example, network fees can be reduced.

– We will encourage dynamic luck; We will show you how to make it cheaper and pay lower electricity bills – said Motyka. He added that it is about educational activities thanks to which “everyone will see where they can save.”

The transition fee was introduced in 2008 as compensation for the termination of long-term contracts, the so-called PPAs concluded before Poland's accession to the EU between energy producers and trading companies. Setting the transition fee at PLN 0 was proposed by President Karol Nawrocki in the draft amendment to the Act amending certain acts in order to reduce electricity costs and financing energy support systems from funds from trading in CO2 emission allowances.

The president's draft amendment to the act lowering energy prices was submitted to the Sejm on November 12 this year. As a result of implementing the solutions proposed therein, households would pay approximately 33% for electricity. less, and enterprises by about 20 percent. less. The draft amendment provides, among others: reducing the VAT rate on electricity from 23%. up to 5 percent and various types of fees that affect the level of the energy bill. (PAP)
