US President Donald Trump said on Monday that good progress had been made in peace talks with Ukraine. He added that “something good may happen” in this case.

“Is it really possible that much progress has been made in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine??? Don't believe it until you see it, but something good could happen. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” – Trump wrote in a morning message posted on his social media platform, Truth Social. Just a day earlier, the president criticized the Ukrainian authorities – putting the word in quotation marks – for their lack of gratitude towards America's efforts.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke on Sunday about his optimism and progress in talks with Ukraine on the US peace plan, calling this day the best involvement of the Trump administration in this matter since the beginning. Rubio acknowledged that additional issues remain to be determined. He emphasized that these obstacles “are not insurmountable” and expressed optimism that the details would be finalized quickly. However, he admitted that “Russia also has a voice.”
A joint statement by the Ukrainian and American delegations after the talks also spoke about progress. Negotiators from both countries announced that the result of the meeting in Geneva was the development of a revised and “improved” peace plan. The White House press release from the talks said that Ukrainian representatives concluded that the new plan “reflects their national interests and provides credible and feasible mechanisms to protect Ukraine's security, both in the short and long term.”
