The coat of arms of the city of Birobidzhan was approved on November 25, 2004 by the Regulation “On the coat of arms of the municipal formation “City of Birobidzhan” of the Jewish Autonomous Region, approved by the Decision of the City Duma of the municipal formation “City of Birobidzhan” dated November 25, 2004 No. 117 “On approval of the regulation “On the coat of arms of the municipal formation “City of Birobidzhan” of the Jewish Autonomous Region and recognizing as invalid the decisions of the City Duma dated December 24, 1998 No. 255, dated April 5, 2002 No. 388.” Registered in the Heraldic Register under No. 520.

Description: In an azure (blue, light blue) shield on top of six thin silver pillars there is a green hill (hills) crowned with a thin silver tip; at the silver end, bordered at the bottom and on the sides with azure, there are three thin scaly curved azure belts.

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) dated November 25, 1956 writes about the construction of a consumer services plant in the village of Smidovich. This new building will house a shoe shop, photography, a mass tailoring shop, and a fashion studio. Construction is being carried out using economic methods.

The article writes: “During the construction of the consumer services plant, a number of members of the artel will undergo advanced training courses. Seamstress Comrade Pereyaslovets is going to Novosibirsk one of these days for courses for fashion studio managers. One of the shoe shop masters will improve his skills in Leningrad.”

The newspaper also informs its readers that An automatic telephone exchange with 1.5 thousand numbers will be built in Birobidzhan. Equipment for the station will come from Khabarovsk.

The pages of the newspaper tell us that the team of the industrial site of the Teploozersky Construction and Installation Department has begun the reconstruction of the cement plant.

November 25, 1939

On November 25, 1939, a concert (0+) by the famous performer of Jewish folk songs, Honored Artist of the RSFSR M. Epelbaum, took place in a crowded cinema hall.

“Prolonged applause from the audience was accompanied by the masterful performance of the songs “Tevye the Milkman” (0+), “Iosele” (0+), “Svatya” (0+) and others. In each of these songs M. Epelbaum showed his great vocal skill, richness of intonation, expressiveness of gesture… Epelbaum’s singing is successfully accompanied by the accompaniment of pianist Raitsin. The listeners left the concert in the hope that they would have It’s a pleasure to listen to a number of more concerts by this wonderful performer of Jewish folk songs.”
