Chisinau reveals the amount allocated by the Kremlin to bring its loyal deputies to the Parliament

The President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, says that the Kremlin invested almost 400 million euros to influence the vote on September 28 and to bring deputies controlled by Moscow into the legislature. The statement was made on Monday, November 24, during the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform.

“In these elections we witnessed an unprecedented disinformation campaign, a hybrid war in which Russia invested almost 400 million euros to bring into Parliament deputies controlled by criminal groups and Kremlinsaid Igor Grosu, the president of the Parliament, as well as the leader of the power in Chisinau, emphasizing that Moldovans chose the path of freedom and stability during the September parliamentary elections in his country.

“This experience reminds us that the fight for democracy is not only fought on the battlefield. It takes place in every polling station, in every Parliament and in every house that refuses to give in to fear. The Republic of Moldova understands what is at stake.” added the leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS).

At the same time, the President of the Parliament from Chisinau, Igor Grosu, declared that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova know what it means to have the army of the Russian Federation on the territory of the country, referring to the one in the Transnistrian separatist region.

“We share a border with a country under attack, we feel the consequences of war every day through energy insecurity, economic pressures and the humanitarian needs of those fleeing the bombs,” Igor Grosu also said during the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea International Platform held this year in Sweden.

Fourth edition

The Crimea Platform, launched at the government level in Kyiv in 2021 at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, aims to end the occupation of Crimea, as well as its peaceful return to Ukraine.

The event is in its fourth edition, bringing together presidents of Parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations.
