Pellet prices 2025. How much does a ton of pellets cost?

Since the launch of the “Clean Air” program, the dominant choices among Poles have been gas installations and heat pumps. However, in 2025, the situation has changed. Statistics for August 2025 confirm a strong trend: as much as 73 percent. all subsidized heat sources were biomass boilers, including primarily pellet boilers and wood gasification boilers.
Despite price increases, pellets remain a competitive fuel, especially in well-insulated buildings. However, users must prepare for higher expenses. According to data from the website cenapelletu.pl (November 4), the average price of class A1 pellets in November increased by PLN 66 compared to October.
The lowest prices can be found in the Łódź and West Pomeranian Voivodeships, where a ton of pellets costs up to PLN 1,200. In turn, the highest rate appeared at one sales point in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship – the price there reached PLN 1,960 per tonne.
However, it is worth noting that prices vary depending on the region as well as the quality of the product. Premium pellets can cost up to PLN 2,200 per ton, while the cheapest options in supermarkets start from PLN 1,100 – writes the Interia portal.

Pellet in Poland
Data from the Central Emission Register of Buildings show that pellet boilers have already been installed in over 500,000 buildings. Polish houses. The increasing popularity of this fuel is due to relatively low operating costs and the ecological nature of biomass.
However, rising raw material prices and availability problems may influence consumer decisions in the future. An example is the story of Maciej from Podhale, who a year ago paid PLN 900 for a ton of pellets, and now has to pay PLN 1,780.
“So far, my transport has been postponed twice because the pellets are not in stock. When they arrive, their price is higher than announced, and people still buy them within 1-2 days. The heating season is coming” — he says in an interview with Onet.

Pellet. Thoughtful choice of fuel is the key to savings
Experts emphasize that before choosing a heating system, it is worth carefully analyzing the energy needs of the building and considering various alternatives. Rising pellet prices may encourage some users to look for other, more cost-stable solutions.
What is pellet? How are pellets made?
Pellets are made from crushed wood waste (e.g. sawdust, shavings) or biomass (e.g. straw). These materials are pressed under very high pressure, which gives them a characteristic cylindrical shape.
It is simply wood pellets containing compressed shavings, sawdust, etc. The advantage of pellets is that their calorific value is as high as wood. Due to the fact that it is supplied in the form of granules, it maintains low humidity. However, the greatest advantage of pellets in terms of utility is that the combustion process produces a small amount of ash.
