The Sejm continues work on the liquidation of the CBA. New services planned

236 MPs voted in favor of continuing the project, 188 were against and 18 MPs abstained from voting. The decision means that the Sejm intends to analyze in detail the proposal for changes in the functioning of services responsible for combating corruption.

The project provides for the dissolution of the Central Anticorruption Bureau, which currently operates as a secret service reporting directly to the Prime Minister. In its place, the Central Bureau for Combating Corruption would be established, which would operate within the police structures. At the same time, part of the competences of the CBA would be transferred to the strengthened Internal Security Agency and the National Tax Administration.
The matter will go to committee
The future of the project still remains uncertain, but the Sejm's decision to refer it for further work indicates serious interest in changes in the structure of anti-corruption services. In the near future, the Administration and Internal Affairs Committee, supported by the opinion of the Special Services Committee, will conduct a detailed analysis of the proposed solutions.
