Psychiatrist from Craiova, arrested for turning a vulnerable patient into a personal maid

A doctor from Craiova is accused by DIICOT of having forced a female patient to clean his house, his relatives and places where events were to take place, through mental violence. According to the local publication Știri Craiova, it is Daniel Iliuță, a psychiatrist, who was pre-arrested for 30 days.
The prosecutors accuse him that, during 2022, in the exercise of his duties as a doctor, by misleading (promises that he would provide her with medical treatment), the man would have recruited a woman and, taking advantage of her state of vulnerability (family and health problems), would have sheltered her for the purpose of exploitation through work.
“Through acts of mental violence, the victim was allegedly forced to provide cleaning services in the homes of the man and his family, as well as in locations where events were to be organized,” according to DIICOT.
He is accused of such human trafficking, but also of dangerous drug trafficking, because “he allegedly possessed and offered a quantity of dangerous drug (alprazolam) to a person in a therapeutic program and possessed and stored in his home, tablets containing the same active substance, picked up during the home search.”
On Wednesday, the police and prosecutors conducted two searches in this case, according to News.ro.
Stiri Craiova writes that Daniel Iliuță, 31 years old, former resident psychiatrist at the Neuropsychiatry Hospital in Craiova and is an active PSD member. On his Facebook page, he has several posts supporting Mayor Lia Olguța Vasilescu and the PSD.
