The fourth arrest for the former player of City! The details that shocked the football world

Brazilian football is shaken again. Jo, the former Manchester City, Galatasaray, Everton and Corinthians striker, was arrested for the fourth time after authorities found he had failed to pay child support for one of his children.

Jo was arrested for the fourth time.

The Brazilian star was picked up by police while attending a simple barbeque at a street food stall in Barra de Tijuca. The officers already had a warrant issued as far back as 2024, but only now have they been able to implement it.

Huge debt to authorities

The amount the former footballer owes amounts to BRL 220,744.57, the equivalent of around £31,500, money stemming from non-payment of child support for his sixth child out of wedlock.

After his arrest, Jo was taken to a nearby police station, and the Brazilian and British media note that this is the fourth such incident, all based on the same issue, namely the refusal to pay child support.

Six children out of wedlock

The arrest warrant was issued due to non-payment of pension to the influencer Maiara Quiderolly, with whom Jo had an extramarital relationship while he was still married to Claudia Silva. From that affair was born Joao Gabriel, the former Brazilian international's eighth child and sixth out of wedlock.

In 2024, Jo was arrested in a similar episode, when the police kicked him off the team bus after he refused to pay the debt to Quiderolly. He was detained overnight at Section no. 10 from Campinas.

An arrest warrant has been issued in a city in [statul] Bahia, for a fairly small debt. Jô will go through the IML (Institutul Medicinii Legale) and then go to the prison of the 2nd DP.

To-morrow this debt will doubtless be paid, and we hope he will be released“, said the lawyer of the former Manchester City striker.
