Romania find out their opponent in the pool for the 2026 World Championship today. The draw takes place from 14:00, liveTEXT on GSP.ro and on TV on Antena 1. The event takes place in Zurich, Switzerland.

  • Romania will fall with one of Italy, Denmark, Turkey and Ukraine in the semi-final of the pool. Also in today's draw, the “tricolors” will also find out who they could play with in the final of the pool, if they qualify.

  • Romania will play away regardless of the opponent in the semifinal of the pool. For the play-off final, the host teams will be drawn.

Romania was assigned to the 4th urn, where all the teams qualified for the play-off through the Nations League are. In the first 3 urns, the teams were allocated according to the FIFA ranking.

In the final, Romania would meet one of the teams from the 2 or 3 urns, depending on who wins in the semi-finals.

Romania reached the play-offs via the League of Nations

Romania finished the 2026 WC preliminaries group in 3rd place, below Austria and Bosnia. Mircea Lucescu's team secured their place in the play-offs through the League of Nations.

Romania finished 1st in their League C group in the fall of 2024. Then they took advantage of the fact that the teams that won their groups in League A and League B qualified directly or finished 2nd in the preliminaries, so they did not need the benefits offered by the Nations League.
