“The source of sabotage is the Russian Federation.” The Foreign Ministry commented on the involvement of Ukrainian citizens in sabotage in Poland

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that two citizens of Ukraine, with whom the intelligence services of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation have long been cooperating, were involved in sabotage on November 15–17.

The department noted the “cynicism of deliberate recruitment,” as well as Russia’s use of persons with a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for hybrid attacks, sabotage and crimes aimed at destabilization.

“Russia is trying to shift the blame for its crimes onto the Ukrainians. But we are convinced that Ukraine’s partners understand perfectly well that the source of such sabotage is the Russian Federation,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

According to the ministry, recent sabotage once again confirms that at the same time the Russians are waging a war not only in Ukraine, but also a full-scale hybrid war against Europe. Thus, the Kremlin wants to destroy the unity of partners in helping Ukraine and generally destabilize the situation.

The Foreign Ministry noted its readiness for further close coordination with Poland to counter Russian hybrid aggression and strengthen joint security.

“We confirm our readiness to provide all necessary assistance to the Polish competent authorities and the relevant services of our allies to establish all the circumstances of the incident, bring those responsible to justice and form a joint preventive mechanism to counter such criminal acts in the future,” the statement said.

Context

On November 16, Polish police reported trains stopped east of Warsaw due to damage to a section of the railway line connecting the capital with Dorogusk station on the border with Ukraine, which also carries trains to Lublin, Chelm and further into Ukrainian territory.

Tusk announced the bombing of the railway track on the Warsaw-Lublin route and called it “an unprecedented act of sabotage aimed directly at the security of the Polish state and its citizens.” He added that this line is also “crucial for the delivery of aid to Ukraine.”

The General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, commenting on the sabotage on the railway, expressed the opinion that we are talking about a hybrid war, and the likely aggressor is the Russian Federation. Polish prosecutors have launched an investigation into acts of terrorist sabotage between November 15 and 17, including damage to tracks near the villages of Mika and Golomb using explosives.
